This 4-bedroom apartment is the matrimonial home of a newly-wed couple in their 30s and their family. The existing 30-year old flat was refreshed into a contemporary yet soothing abode with the use of timber and curve elements throughout the space, complemented by soft accent and mood lighting. In particular, a curved plasterboard band with warm LED strip lighting was molded along the perimeter to unify the living and dining spaces.

The heart of the apartment is the dry kitchen bar counter standing between the living and wet kitchen area. It functions as a bridge between the extended family members of the couple, facilitating conversations between the husband’s mother who is primarily in the wet kitchen and the wife’s sister who does baking at the dry kitchen. If privacy is required, the spaces can be partitioned with operable fluted glass panels.

A custom headboard in light timber-grain laminate is the centrepiece of the Master bedroom. Besides anchoring the space, it also carves up the room into their personal spaces: the husband’s study and the wife’s dressing area. After their respective tasks are completed, the couple reunites to enjoy quality time together watching movies projected onto the custom built large-format wardrobe door panel.
